SIXTH ANNUAL BOOTS & BABES BALL BRINGS COUNTRY TO VALENTINES DAY AT THE LEGENDARY COMMODORE BALLROOM ON FEBRUARY 14, 2019.
The Boots & Babes Ball will take over the Commodore Ballroom on Valentines Day bringing together those looking for love and those looking for all the wrong places. Whether you’re in love, in search of love, or in search of just a night of fantastic live music and entertainment, this Valentines Day, the Boots & Babes Ball has got you covered.
Madeline Merlo has always had eclectic taste, and in her music you’ll hear the influence of classic country of artists like Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline, R&B greats Etta James and Billie Holiday and modern superstars such as Miranda Lambert. She has contributed to Sparkle: An Inspirational Handbook for Young Girls, which features interviews with female artists, entrepreneurs and public figures in British Columbia. She’s also performed for the Canadian Armed Forces as part of Team Canada, a small group of Canadian ambassadors from the sports, music and entertainment industries visiting Sicily, Italy, and an operations base in Kuwait.
Closer to home Merlo is a champion of local artisans and is passionate about promoting new designers. She’s an ambassador for Wear Your Label, a conscious clothing line that creates conversations about mental health. Her boho, free-spirited style as unique as her sound.
Raised in rural Ontario, The Reklaws are comprised of the brother-sister duo Jenna and Stuart Walker. The Reklaws (Walker backwards) began to turn heads in 2012 when they were awarded the CCMA Discovery Artist title followed by the 2013 Boots & Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase title. Since then, they have shared the stage with some of country’s best including Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, Brothers Osborne, Thomas Rhett and more. The pair have spent long hours in Nashville crafting their songs and their efforts have paid off as they came back with an infectious sound, with an authentic mix of pop and country and a “soundtrack-to-your-summer” vibe.
The Reklaws took the summer of 2017 by storm with their major label debut with Universal Music Canada and release of their debut single “Hometown Kids” which quickly charted at #15. As a follow up, their chart-rattling lead single and title track from their EP, “Long Live The Night”, has been the most streamed song in all of Canadian country music released this year, hit top five on Canadian Country Radio charts, hit gold certification and was named as the official theme song for CFL’s Thursday Night Football on TSN.
The duo recently took the award for SiriusXM Rising Star at the 2018 CCMA awards and performed “Long Live The Night” live in the national broadcast. Stay tuned for much more to come as the Reklaws continue solidify themselves as the next superstars in country music in Canada.
With over 2.5 million streams to date, Shawn Austin has worked tirelessly to cement his place in the Canadian country music landscape. Following the meteoric rise of "Paradise Found", which landed him as one of the Top 10 most played Canadian Country artists on radio, the Vancouver based singer/songwriter was offered the opportunity to perform nightly as a surprise guest on Platinum-selling country star Dallas Smith’s wildly successful 27 date "Side Effects Tour". This past spring, he hit the road for a handful of dates with Gold-certified US country artist Chris Lane and an Ontario run with ACM nominated sibling duo High Valley.
Currently signed to superstar Smith's SteelHead Music, Austin's success hasn't come overnight, but after years of dedication, performing in local clubs and bars, crafting his smooth and sultry, laid-back sound.
